Vinyl printing can be used for many requirements. One of the most common is that of providing graphics on Point of Sale (POS) displays. POS displays are made from a wide variety of materials, for example metal, plastic, wood and card. The self adhesive properties of printed stickers mean graphics can be printed on vinyl, contour cut to match the shape of the panel to be applied to and so provide attractive appearance to any display stand. Unlike paper prints mounted with spray on adhesive or double sided tape, stickers printed on vinyl have much greater adhesive properties and with vinyl being made from plastic means vinyl printing is much more resistant to wear and abrasion than paper.  Vinyl printing is also more cost effective than other techniques when used for branding POS displays. In the past printed stickers have been made using screen printing and lithography. These both require expensive setup costs and are only cost effective when hundreds and thousands of custom stickers are required. Digital vinyl printing can be cost effective when used for just one sticker or one thousand stickers. With the combined use of CNC cutting, sticker printing can be checked and tweaked before the final stickers are printed. Sometimes when many thousands of custom sticker are required it will be more cost effective to have sticker printing done using lithography. Even then digitally printed custom stickers will be needed to check the artwork is setup to the correct shape otherwise expensive die cutting will be used with the chance of mistakes being made. Modification can be made easily to a digital cutter guide but if a new die is required a lot more work and cost will be required.

Digital sticker printing has the great benefit of being by far the quickest method to create an accurately printed custom sticker in both colour and shape. Companies like Print for Display use software to ensure the inks used are pantone calibrated and so produce precise colour matches every time.  

Custom stickers produced with vinyl printing have an added benefit when it comes to applying to POS displays. Large stickers can be difficult to apply as creasing and bubbling can occur. As the custom stickers are printed on waterproof vinyl with waterproof ink all vinyl printing can be ‘floated’ onto the surface using a mix of water and detergent. This means if the printed stickers are not positioned correctly the water will allow for repositioning and any air bubble to be removed. Once the sticker is positioned correctly the water will dry and the adhesive properties of the sticker printing will ensure a permanent fix. This would not be possible to do with paper printed stickers and so increases the risk of creasing and air bubbles. Vinyl printing also means the printed stickers will have a bit of stretch in the material. This will also aid in mounting.  

The cost effective nature of sticker printing means if a POS display needs updating more stickers can be printed quickly and efficiently.
